Archaeology in Action Students will learn how archaeologists excavate sites by excavating one of four simulated sites.
Haunted History Hayride Hayride through historic Bushy Run Battlefield
Clash of Cultures Students will examine the life of a soldier in royal American Regiment and the life of an Ohio Valley Native american on the changing western frontier.
2008 Historic Weapons Show


The Old Westmoreland Rifles-Collectors Show Association’s annual historic weapon’s show displays the weapons that helped to open the Western Pennsylvania frontier. Items will include Pennsylvania Long rifles, muskets, pistols, powder horns and much more.
A donation of $5.00 is the admission to this event.

Robert Griffing will be giving a presentation on his mid eighteenth century art work. His new book will be available for purchase and autographs.

12th Annual Ohio Country Conference 12th Annual Ohio Country Conference
The year 1758 will be the theme of the conference. An international group of historians will present topics on the Forbes Campaign, Fort Ticonderoga, Fort Frontenac and Fortress Louisbourg. Speakers will include Stephen Brumwell, Rene Chartrand, William Fowler, Richard Grimes, A.J.B. Johnston, Holly Mayer, Timothy Shannon and Matthew Ward.

Guide: George Heasley. Springtime in Western Pennsylvania just doesn't seem quite right without Bushy Run's annual Spring Nature Walk. Take a nice jaunt through the woods with local naturalist George Heasley and explore the beautiful setting of Bushy Run Battlefield.

Living History Presentation by Robert Nipar

Speaker: Robert Nipar

Living historian Robert Nipar will be portraying a military engineer in the 60th Royal American Regiment of Foot. An 18th century military engineer was responsible for many important tasks in the army including establishing camps, building forts and destroying enemy forts to name just a few of the topics that will be covered. Mr. Nipar will be available to discuss the many different roles of a military engineer assigned to the General’s staff. He will also have surveying tools and engineering equipment to show and explain to visitors.

245th Anniversary Reenactment of the 
Battle of Bushy Run

Battle of Bushy Run Reenactment

The reenacting of the Battle of Bushy Run is upon us once again. See how Colonel Henry Bouquet and his Troops defeated Native American forces that had ambushed them here in 1763, on their way to save Fort Pitt that was under siege. The morning battle portrays the events that occurred on August 5th and the afternoon engagement shows the August 6th tactics that led to victory. Also featured are period 18th century camps, a military trades demonstration, 18th century craftspeople, and other special programs.

Martin West, the director of Fort Ligonier, will give a presentation on the history of Fort Ligonier and also discuss the 250th anniversary commemorations planned for that historic site.

Bushy Run Battlefield's Annual Haunted History Hayride Screams in the night, shots in the distance, the whoops and cries of angry Native Americans and wounded British soldiers, a chilling look at the eighteenth century is given at Bushy Run Battlefield. Have a ghoulishly great time as our historical reenactors frighten you with scenes from Pontiac's War. Events include a storyteller and special "all Halos' Eve" treats.
